The Southwestern Research Station is located in the Chiricahua Mountains
about two and a half hours' drive from Tucson just west of Rodeo, New Mexico. The elevation is about 5400 ft, with an average
temperature in the 80's during the day and the 50's at night. There are excellent hiking trails and great birdwatching.
If you choose to camp, you must provide your own equipment
(available for rental from Outdoor Adventures at the Student Recreation Center).
Campers will be assigned to a cabin for the use of bathroom facilities.
Please carpool, as parking is extremely limited.
The registration page provides an opportunity to rideshare and the driver list is current.
Babysitter
A babysitter will be available for $30 per child per day. Her name is Brianna Maxwell, and she can be reached at 792-4575.
Guests
Although spouses and other guests are welcome at the retreat, the departments are unable to subsidize the cost of their attendance. Rates below are for both nights with meals included.
Cabins (shared room, 4-5 people)

There is an 11$ daily fee for guests at the station.
Meals only for Adults: 5$ for breakfast, 7$ for lunch, and $10 for dinner
Children under 12: 5$ for breakfast, $5 for lunch, and $7 for dinner
Stuff You Should Bring
· Flashlight
· Comfortable shoes (walking shoes and/or hiking boots)
· Light/Medium weight jacket or sweater
· Layered casual clothes
· Sundries
· Rain gear (just in case)
· Poster or talk material
· Stuff for fun: Games, Sports stuff, Binoculars, Cameras/Video, etc...
